Appearance of horizontal lines on 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro

Questioner General

My 13-inch 2018 MacBook Pro's display has suddenly started showing evenly spaced horizontal black/grey lines from top to bottom of the screen. At first, I noticed it only on the right side of the screen, but now it seems to be getting worse and has covered the entire display, top to bottom, left to right. This was an overnight occurrence and is really weird as the device has suffered no external damage.

I ran the Apple Hardware diagnostics. No issues found over there.

The lines remain.

I tried the Safe mode reboot.

The lines remain.

I tried the SMC reset with Control + Option + Shift + Power button.

The lines still remain.

Does anyone have any support advice to offer?

Thanks in advance.

This is usually caused by a hardware issue with the built-in Display. Connect an external display and enable mirroring. If the issue only shows up on the built-in Display, then you know the laptop's display is bad and needs to be replaced.
