awaiting debit card replacement can use checking account
Can I use checking account until debit card replaced
FWIW, that is a question you should have asked your bank when you reported the fraud. We are all other end users here - not Apple or bank employees. However, my guess is the answer is: No - not until your get a new debit card as well as new checks. I had that problem once and the bank put a hold on my account and assigned a new one including new account number, so any attempted payment would have been flagged as suspicious.
And, these are worldwide technical forums, not instant chat with Apple support, so there is no need to repeat your question several times. When another user has an answer for your question, they will post it.
They won't get new checks, just the debit card.
In my case, the bank decided to just close out the checking account and establish a new one which included a new account number = new checks. I was told to destroy the old ones because they had the old defunct account number. And, I was told not use it for a payment until I had the new card and checks.
I had to have my debit card replaced 3 times during one Christmas shopping season, never had to get new checks as there is no relationship between the two i.e. someone getting the debit card information do not have access to the account number.
As I said, I only have had to do that once, but it was the bank's idea to just close the account (I had to tell them about 2 legit checks which had not been cashed so they would honor them). So the debit card is a different number, but the money still comes out of your account.
Yes, it comes out of the same accounts but via different routes that should not be related for security reasons which is why I never had to close the account and get new checks. At this point I don’t know if I remember how to write a check.
I still have two places that only accept checks.
