Can't attach files to emails in some folders only

Outlook for Mac, on MacBook Air. Attachments worked perfectly until a week ago, now I get message:

Because one or more of the attachments are folders, the attachments must be compressed before they are sent.

I want to open a folder, and then a subfolder and then choose a file, to attach, this was working no problem, now I get the above message.

Any suggestions to fix this?
