I have a Korg 1000 keyboard and have hooked it up to my MAC desktop using the cable with built in powered driver from the midi ports on the keyboard to a USB port on the mac. How do I get Garageband to recognize the keyboard as an input device.
Set up MIDI devices using Audio MIDI Setup on Mac - Apple Support
Garageband is recognized and functional with my Probook. (Big Sur) but is not recognized by my new 27"Imac (Big sur)
On the imac can't even get the MIDI setup!!
Then I suggest you call AppleCare.
I was on to Apple with no success. I re-installed the operating system completely (Big Sur) with still no success.
Again....the probook recognizes the midi input instantly. (Korg PA1000 keyboard) but the iMac does not.
Are you using the same USB cable with both systems?
What do you mean by a "powered driver"?
Same cable.....midi to usb but obviously not at the same time but now the probook isn't working either.
The cable has a built in "in line driver" that obviates having to download a driver although with Big Sur it is recommended that you stick with the embedded Apple drivers.
I've ordered another cable which I'll try tonight.
