i deleted my entire content from my hard disk, and my backup and loaded everything back in, and let i still keep getting error 54. what do i need to do?

my music files on my lap top and my backup were corrupt ,so I deleted everything and reinstalled what i could. but now every device, my iPad and iPhone, whenever I try to sync to my laptop I keep getting code 54 and it wont finish the process. what do I need to do to fix this problem?
