Questioner General

With a great sorrow, I like to inform you that someone has stolen my iPhone from my Car on 06-01-2021 while I was driving back to home in Janak Puri from Pitampura around 7.00PM. I have already logged a FIR / complaint in Local Police Station for the incident and they are investigating the matter. Please also find attached herewith copy of the Police Report / Complaint.

Therefore, I would request you to kindly keep record of the above mention details of the phone and help me in locating the lost mobile phone.

I would also like to inform you that till 08-01-2021 I was able to see the phone listed on my iCloud ID, and it was showing offline under Find My Phone. On 08-01-2021 I was able to put my phone on lost mode and play sound (but I had not erased my phone from my ID so that I can track the location of the Phone). However, the next morning around 6.00AM i.e. on 09-01-2021, I saw a message from Apple Support “iPhone 12 PRO has been found today at 10:16 pm. View location: https://icloud-notifications.com/id/IRn”. I had received this message at midnight around 11.57PM on 08-01-2021, as I was sleeping at that time I was unable to attend the message at the same time. Next morning when I saw that message I felt that now I will be able to see the location of my phone and logged in to iCloud Find My Phone on my laptop and when I clicked on the above link, I got the error “File not found (404 error) If you think what you are looking for should be here, please contact the site owner.”; further when I checked my device list on iCloud, I was not able to see my iPhone 12 Pro in the list of devices.

All the above incidents were reported by me on time to time basis to Apple Support Team; however, none of them were able to help me out and inform last location of my phone.

I presume that the thief has removed my Apple ID from my phone owing to which I am unable to see my last location and it is also not showing in my device list.

Therefore I would request you to kindly extend your valued support in terms of following :

1.      Please let me know the last location of my iPhone where it was located by Apple Support for which I received the notification to enable me to report the same to Police and recover my highly

priced iPhone 12 Pro. I received the message from the server of Apple Support, please check the details of the message from server.

2.      Please let me know the Apple ID being used on this device to enable the authorities to track the device.

3.      The thief may try to make the phone un-operational to get a replacement from apple service centre, thus, I would request you to kindly circulate above details of the phone to worldwide Apple Service Centre so that they will not provide replacement of the phone to the thief, and inform local police authorities or drop me an e-mail regarding such incident by return e-mail. Please inform me location of the store

4.      Please mark the above details of my phone in your records, the person using the above phone may use your support or visit Apple Service Centre for any Technical help, at that time you will be able to hold the services and inform about the person to the Local Police or just drop an e-mail to me to enable me to report the same to the investigating officer.

It is not out of place to mention here that it is the most premium and costliest phone in the world and most secured phone as claimed by Apple, I had paid huge amount to own the device and no support from Apple in this matter would have negative effect on my Loyalty towards Apple Products. I wish to receive your valued and early reply.

Thanks and Regards

The message you received did not come from Apple. You fell for a phishing message from the thief. When you used the link in the message to log in, you gave them your iCloud credentials, allowing them to remove the activation lock.

You need to change your password immediately.

You will never see your phone again. There is nothing Apple can do about it.

Apple does not assist for lost or stolen devices.

I had received a sms from Apple server only for locating my device. They should let me know the last location. They are charging so high there should be any function by which at least they can get to know that the phone has been jailbroken or IMEI number has been changed or something.

They don't keep those records. It's not Apple's job.

You are the only person that can track it.

Make a police report. We can't do that either.

No brother, the msg came from same no from where i was receiving the otps to login to my account thats why I clicked on it and entered the details. I had activated Lock and lost mode, how can someone break it so easily. I think apple has something by which they can track the stolen device even if it is offline. Or may be they help me at least by informing me about the actual present status of the phone like whether it is still on same IMEI or it has been jailbroken, so that i will not stay in hope for finding it.

Apple doesn’t send out a text message about your phone being found.

You received a sms from a spoofed number sending you a malicious link.

The link led you to a page designed to steal your Apple ID and password.

You have given away your personal information.

Stop wasting your time arguing with us.

Change your passwords now if it’s not already to late.

If you really don’t believe numerous people telling you this, call Apple support.

Stop wasting our time and yours.

It's trivial to send you a message that appears to come from any phone number I choose.

By replying to the message and logging in you gave the thief your password and account information so they could remove the activation lock and resell your phone after erasing it.

Apple will not send you a message telling you your phone has been found, as they don't know if it has been and don't track phones at all, as others here have told you.

"icloud-notifications.com" is NOT an Apple domain, it's owned by someone in the UK through a Hong Kong-based domain name service.

Actually, it's just a Hong Kong DNS service, the registrar that sold the name, name.com, is located in the United States.
