If Apple is concerned about the environment, why did they change the cord adapter end so that now I must purchase a new plugin to charge it? Being able to use my existing plugin would have been more environmentally sensitive.
Apple moved to the industry standard USB-C for the other end of the cable since its more ubiquitous now and would be easier to maintain in the future.
If you have a charger and cable for a previous iphone or ipad, you can use that cable and charger cutting down also on the amount of chargers required.
So in fact changing the cable makes the most sense environmentally since it will let you use it in the futre, while still letting you use older chargers and cables you may still have.
