Hi, Ive just purchased an Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner. The maximum the capability for the scanner is 12800 however my Mac wont allow me to scan any larger than 1200dpi. I wont need to scan anything quite as high as the scanners capabilities but it would be great to have the option otherwise whats the point of having a fancy scanner?

My negatives will definitely need the highest dpi. Any advise on what to do?

I am scanning through the Epsom software, Epson Scan- Version 3.9.4.0EN

When I attempt to scan anything higher than 1200 dpi I get the error message.....

"Image size too large. Reduce the resolution or scale setting, decrease the size of selected area to within 10500 x 30000 pixels"

I hope you can help.

People have used the paid VueScan Professional to scan artwork at 6400 dpi with the V600. Others on Windows have had the same error dialog that you received when using the Epson Scan product, so you probably should either try out the VueScan trial, Apple's Image Capture, review the V600 user guide, or read the following V600 review:
