My FaceID stopped working after 2 years of working fine has anyone else had this problem. What did you do about it?

My Facial ID stopped by working after 2 years. Has anyone ever had this problem? What did you do to fix it?

Same. Went into the genius and was told it was it was a sensor issue but couldn’t tell me why it occurred. It is not covered and was offered another phone for $399! It sounds like a recent reoccurring problem so why should I have to pay for another phone. Disappointed. I guess I won’t be using Face ID.
