My Mac book won’t start up…

My Mac book won’t start up all the way, it will only get to the Apple icon then shut off.. please don’t tell me it’s dead.

Troubleshooting Power:

Boot in Safe Mode:

[Hold Down: the shift key upon boot until you get to the login screen]. In Safe Mode, Login Items do not run upon Login, particular System Preferences are set aside, and damaged system files (i.e. caches) are fixed. So, see if it then happens. After a few minutes, if it does not happen, then reboot normally, and login to the dame user giving you this issue. See if it has then been fixed.

As for when to hold shift:

1. Shut Down: the Mac
2. Wait: 30 Seconds:
3. Power Up: the Mac
4. Hold Down: shift key when you hear the boot chime.
5. Proceed with the login
6. Wait: 30 Seconds:
7. Shut Down: the Mac
8. Wait: 30 Seconds:
9. Power Up: the Mac
10. Login: as Normally
