My ex took my phone and changed my password, took off the face recognition. THe only things I can access are my flashlight, turning off the phone and emergency line. When I try to connect my phone to my computer it tells me in order to use the usb accessories I have to first unlock my phone, So its not letting me restore it since its not connected to the computer. Does anyone have any Idea what I can do to unlock it without having to take it in?

Hi - Hopefully your ex doesn't know your apple ID / password. If he/she does, change the password now. If they've locked you out of your apple ID you will have bigger problems. If you change your password, store it somewhere secure, preferably in a suitable password manager if you use one. It is very easy to forget a new password - expecially if you change it in a stressful situation like this one.

If you can't make them tell you the new iPhone passcode, you can reset it, but your phone will be wiped, you can restore it if you have a backup.

No that he does not thankfully. He did though know my password to get on my phone. That is what I have been trying to do. For some reason though my phone wont connect to my computer. The cord is fine since it will charge being plugged into the wall, however when I try to plug into my computer so that I can restore it, it tells me that I have to unlock my phone to use the usb accessories which is a problem since I can't unlock the phone lol.

That is why you have to follow the sequence described in the link I just posted:

Remove the passcode on iPhone X or later, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

  1. Make sure your iPhone isn't connected to your computer.
  2. Press and hold the Side button and one of the volume buttons until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your iPhone.
  3. Then connect your iPhone to your computer while holding the Side button. Keep holding the Side button until you see the recovery mode screen.

If you backed up your iPhone, after you remove the passcode, restore your data and settings.

Then follow the steps to restore your phone at the bottom of the page.
