Since upgrading to Big Sur, my canon MP490 doesn't work. I know I'm supposed to install a new driver but Canon doesn't support MP490 anymore. I shouldn't have to get a new printer when this one works perfectly fine. Please advise.
This Canon page suggests you download "My image Garden" as Driver for this printer under Big Sur:
https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/support-inkjet-printer/mp-series/pixma-mp490/pixma-mp490?subtab=downloads-software
.
hi grant. thanks for your reply. i cannot find "my image garden" anywhere
an auto download link is on the page I cited.
sorry grant but that isn't the case. that page asks for my product, not the driver i want to select. in other words, i need to know which product will take me to "my image garden" instead of the mp490 drivers
sorry again, grant. i found it. just installed. will attempt shortly.
Similar problem. My HP LaserJet 1020 works fine with my Windows 10 PC and my wife's MacBook Pro. But with my MacBook Air M1, when I issue a print command, nothing happens and the message is that the printer is offline. But if I do not cancel the print job and restart the computer, it prints that job. But if I then try to print a new job, the cycle repeats - i.e. the printer is treated as offline. BTW, I downloaded the driver for the HP LaserJet 1022, version 1.6.1 which is the same driver that works okay on my wife's MacBook Pro.
did you find what works!!!???? please I'm having the same issue I just got a new MacBook Pro for school and my printer works just fine the Pixma mp490 how do I Connect to my laptop please help
Sorry, no.
I wish I could help. Have not found a solution. Someone recommended “my image garden” but I don’t understand how to use that for printing a document which obviously is my goal. Stumped, frustrated and angry that I’m supposed to buy a new printer when this one works perfectly well. Don’t have that money.
