Questioner General

When I export captions from Final Cut Pro to SRT format, I do NOT want formatting in the SRT file. Yet, it is still being exported like that despite formatting UNSELECTED.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Any ideas on how to help?

I have updated software and my staff member in Canada also has the same issue as me in Australia. She has a M1 macbook air and FCP and i have both a macbook pro 15" and an imac 2020 27" with FCP.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have just tested it and I see the same thing.

I exported srt files with and without formatting, and the output is exactly the same.

It's a sticky unfixed bug. I noticed and reported it in the last version as well, with no reaction so far from Apple.

Final Cut Pro->Provide Final Cut Pro feedback

Meanwhile, I used a text editor to remove the unwanted formatting.

I did a quick search online and there are a few sites where you can paste xml or similar files and remove all the markup. I tested with a small srt file with formatting and it worked.

Unfortunately I'm to late, but for the records.

You can use Terminal.app for a quick conversion. Open Terminal and paste the below script text

In Finder select the .srt file and drag it to the Terminal window's text end and hit return

The file will be converted and saved automatically.
