I unpaired my iwatch 3 and I am trying to pair it with a different iphone.
When I turn on the iWatch it shows as being locked asking me to unlock it from my iPhone but as it already unpaired, it doesn't unlock from the original iPhone. I have tried to power it off but it still comes up in locked mode and I am unable to pair it to the new device. I tried to power it off when it is on charger, the "power off" slider comes up but is greyed out and does not respond when I tap it.
To unpair and erase watch and remove Activation Lock
From a web browser, sign in to iCloud.com with your Apple ID.
Go to Find iPhone.
Click All Devices at the top of the screen.
Click your Apple Watch.
Click Erase [device]. Select Next until the device is erased.
Click Remove from Account.
Thanks for responding but this didn't help. I erased the iWatch from iCloud and is not on the list anymore.
I now have two iWatches (a 3 and 6). they are both locked and I cannot pair them with either of my iPhones.
I just don't understand why the iWatches do not recognize that they are unpaired and they keep asking to be unlocked from the iPhone.
Thank you very much - it worked. This kind of thing should be better documented by Apple.
