Questioner General

How do you use airplay to stream audio from iMac (2019, Big Sur v 11.4) to a stereo amplifier? I was using an airport express with Catalina, running a cable from the AE to the RCA inputs of my amp. This worked fine for years. But since I upgraded to Big Sur the Airport still works sound but cuts out every few seconds. I haveI have the same problem with two separate Airport Express units, and with several different audio amp systems. (The Airport Express still works with no cut-outs on my old macbook pro with Catalina, so I am pretty sure this problem is with the Big Sur OS). I realize that Airport express is no longer supported, and am looking for the best way to replace it.

Hello jherndo,

Thanks for reaching out through the Apple Support Communities about that difficulty with AirPlay.

Since your iMac is all up-to-date, and you don’t experience that behavior with your MacBook Pro, you’ll want to reach out to Apple Support so they can look into that behavior further: Contact Apple Support
