Wobbling pixels

Questioner General

I noticed that a group of pixels (about 1mm by 2mm in an oval shape) wobble when I move my phone. They appeared randomly, and there was no damage to the phone. They are not dark pixels or white pixels, as they are not discoloured only move when the rest of the image does not. They only “jiggle” when I shake my phone gently, so could be linked to some motion sensor. What could be causing this?

Hello irene280! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that some pixels in the shape of an oval appeared, and they wobble when you shake the phone. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help.

First, let’s determine if this is hardware or software related:

If you take a screenshot, do the pixels appear in the screenshot? If you’re uncertain, share the picture to another device and see if they appear on that other device, or rotate the image and see if the pixels rotate with the image or stay in the same spot on the screen display.

Software related:

  • If the pixels appear in the screenshot, the issue is software related. Let’s try restarting your iPhone to see if that makes a difference: Restart your iPhone
  • If the issue persists after restarting, make sure your iPhone is up-to-date after creating a backup for your iPhone: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  • If you still see the pixels, connect with Apple Support to look into this further: Get Support

Hardware related:

  • If the pixels do not appear in the screenshot, the issue is hardware related. Restart your iPhone to see if that make a difference.
  • If the issue persists, connect with Apple Support to look into service options: Get Support

Make it a great day!
